Catie Paton, Clinical Lead CSMEN
We are thrilled to announce that our new Clinical Lead is Catie Paton. She is Associate Director of Medical Education for NHS Lanarkshire and leads the clinical skills team at the Lanarkshire Learning and Conference Centre at Kirklands Hospital. She is passionate about the development and delivery of simulation and clinical skills training using Human Factors methods to minimise error and enhance performance in both technical and non-technical skills. We are really looking forward to working with Catie.

National Human Factors Network Event - Friday 9 February 2024
Following on from our successful meeting in September, we have now confirmed our next meeting. The 1-Day National Human Factors Network event is on Friday 9 February 2024 at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors
SCSChf has been running short online simulation faculty development sessions. These interactive sessions are available to attend in any order, lasting for 45 min using Zoom (preferably with camera and microphone available). All of the sessions come under Tier 2 of the Scottish National Outcomes Framework for Simulation Faculty Development (more info about the framework via link from SCSChf.org Faculty Development tab). Express your interest to fv.scschf@nhs.scot with your full availability stating the title, date and time of sessions (sessions are only confirmed to run once the minimum number of participants are confirmed).

DIHS Surgical Skill Courses
The Surgical Skills Centre delivers high quality, relevant procedure-based skills courses to local, national and international medical personnel at all stages of their career.
The custom-built facility includes interventional human anatomy, virtual reality simulation, micro-surgery operating microscopes, an operating theatre, fully equipped laparoscopic training laboratories and advanced surgical skills training on Thiel human cadavers – which all combine to form one of the most innovative surgical training facilities in Europe.
