Creating a body of research in respect of simulation is an ongoing challenge for all of us. How can CSMEN support with this?  What would help you initiate or participate in research? What would help you consider projects that would add to ongoing research in simulation?

Please can you take some time to answer our three-question survey?

Mobile Skills Unit Update

At the start of February, the Mobile Skills Unit returned to its base at the Scottish National Blood Transfusions Service depot in Glasgow.  The manikins were serviced ready for the busy year ahead.

Next the unit travelled to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert for the first MSU Faculty Development course of 2025 run by the Scottish Centre for Simulation and Clinical Human Factors. The participants included optometrists and nurses from the Care Home Collaborative.

We are excited to install a new SimNewB manikin on the Mobile Skills Unit which is an upgrade to the current model and will support the delivery of neonatal training across Scotland.

In March, the MSU will spend two weeks in Stranraer and Dumfries with training for staff across multiple agencies.  We are also looking forward to our first ever visits to Ranfurly Care Home in Johnstone and Wyndford Locks Care Home in Maryhill.

The Mobile Skills Unit truly is a multi-professional and multi-agency resource. If you are thinking of booking the Mobile Skills Unit for your region, you can check out the MSU availability on this calendar.

Resources

The Scenario Template has been reviewed and updated and now includes a template for Interprofessional education. Both are available to download from the CSMEN website. These are tools for designing simulation-based learning sessions while ensuring standards of design are considered in the development of new scenarios.
